Why Did Snoop Dogg Change His Name to Snoop Lion

I only just realized that Snoop Dogg changed his name to Snoop Lion after watching his new video "La la la."

Apparently he changed his name because he is now a Rastafarian. To refer to himself as a "dog" is very derogatory.  Lions are associated with royalty in Rastafarianism and also in many other religions, including Christianity.

Kanye West Calls Truce with Photographer Who Asked About Reggie Bush

You may remember this photo of Kanye West becoming upset when a camera woman asked Kim if she would congratulate Reggie about his unborn child with his new girlfriend.

Well, it's reported that Kanye came across that same photographer recently and playfully wagged his finger at her.  He said to her, “You got me in trouble......I did not try to hit you.”

After a little small talk, apparently Kanye was seen giving the woman a hug.  All is squashed.

Nadya Thought Video Would Make Her Rich Like Kim Kardashian

According to an insider in the Suleman camp, Nadya agreed to perform on camera for Vivid because she thought it would propel her into wealth and stardom like it did for Kim Kardashian.  Nadya has said that her motivation was doing it to overcome fears but this source says that money was her primary reason for doing it (....isn't that understandable?  14 kids...).

Rihanna to Sell $250 Exclusive Version of Album December 11th

Rihanna's new album is due out November 16th for regular people, but she will also be selling more pricey versions for the superfan and the ballin' superfan.

On November 19th she will release her $79 Diamonds Deluxe Edition box. It will include a T-shirt, stickers, CD, DVD and diamond bracelet.

But if you wait until December 11th, you can get the Diamonds Executive Platinum Box for a whopping $250.  It includes all of the above, along with seven laptop stickers, artwork, a handwritten note from Rihanna to the Navy(?) and various unreleased exclusive photos.

Video: Gary Houston & Rayah Houston and White Boys

On the second episode of "Houstons: On Our Own" there is a scene where several members of the extended family are hanging around talking.  The subject turns to Rayah Houston and her liking or trying to impress boys at school.

 Her father, Gary Houston is in the room and speaks up and says that Rayah had better not bring home a white boy.  The people in the room laughed it off, but I felt that the comment was kind of uncomfortable because if the races were flipped around and a white father told his daughter that he didn't want her dating any black boys, they would be labeled racists and black people would be complaining about him being prejudiced.

I don't doubt that white fathers all over the nation tell their daughters "Don't bring home a black boy" in so many words.  Actually, they may use the N-word in that command.  But I don't think that makes it right or okay for Gary to tell Rayah that she shouldn't date white boys.

Antique Gun Found in Donated Library Book in Indiana

A librarian in Indiana got more than she hoped for when she opened a book that happened to be hollow.  Inside was an old gold, antique, 31-caliber single-shot powder gun.  Hello, Antiques Roadshow!  There is no way to trace who the gun belonged to because books are donated all the time with no paper trail.

Seven Hurt in Freak Auto Mishap in L.A. Cars Fall off Parking Deck

How weird.  Seven people were hurt after a limousine driver in a parking structure accidentally put the vehicle into drive instead of reverse.  He accelerated into another car, pushing it over and out of the parking deck and down 20 feet toward an apartment building.  The limousine followed the same path.  Everything is still under investigation.  Thankfully they were not on a higher parking level.

Dead Grandma Shows Up in Baby Ultrasound

A couple in Brazil were shocked by what they saw on their baby's ultrasound.  They saw the face of the baby's grandmother!  The mother of the father of the baby died just 4 months ago and they take this as a sign that she is watching over them and the baby.

REM Chart of Lucid Dreaming

There are better times than others to try to attempt lucid dreaming.  Dreaming, in general, usually occurs during the REM stages of sleep. During REM, the body goes into sleep paralysis and the eyes move around.

As you can see in the graph above, REM occurs about every 90 minutes and each REM phase is longer than the one before it.   This is why it is suggested that you wake up in the middle of the night and go back to sleep to try for a lucid dream.  The goal is to find yourself within or close to an REM stage when you try to lucid dream.  

They say that naps are purely REM, which is why you may be successful trying to lucid dream during a nap.  I don't really understand that concept, though.  But it is true.  I've been most successful at WILD during naps.

Natina Reed of Blaque Dead at 32. Passes Away in Pedestrian Car Accident

Everyone would best remember Natina (not Natalie) Reed from the trio Blaque.  TLC's Left-Eye discovered them and they were a huge hit in the early 2000s.  Her bandmates were Shomari and Brandi.

Natina Reed was the group's rapper, with a striking similarity in style to her mentor Left Eye.

She was also in the movie "Bring it On" with Gabrielle Union.

Sadly, she reportedly was struck by a car and died in a hit-and-run accident while crossing the street in Atlanta.  She was 32 years old with a 10-year old son.

Shark Falls Out of the Sky Onto California Golf Course

It's a shark!  Not a bird or a plane!

Luckily no one was playing golf when a 2 pound leopard shark fell from the sky onto the green.  A course marshall saw something moving around and found the sea creature flailing about with teeth marks in its body.  Apparently a bird had snatched it up and lost its grip on the shark while flying through the air.

The marshall acted quickly and transported the injured shark to the main clubhouse where they placed him in some water.  Someone with quick thinking reminded everyone that this was a salt water organism, so they made their own salt water.  The shark didn't move, but when they got it to the ocean it jumped out and swam away. 

This was the shark's lucky day.

Snails on the Highway After Tractor Trailer Crash. Gross!

A truckload of snails littered highway 1-95 in Maine after a tractor-trailer carrying the whelk snails crashed into the median and flipped over the other side.  The driver is fine with minor injuries, but the cleanup caused them to close all lanes except the one left-most for 7 hours!  They had to call in the Maine Department of Environmental Services and a cleanup company to clear the mess.

New Video Proves Obama is Not US Citizen. Born in Kenya

A new (fake) video has surfaced which is supposed to be a video of President Obama being born.  In the video is a white woman giving birth in a small hospital room to a dark-skinned 4 month old baby boy.  You can see that the chart says Ann Dunham and the Kenyan flag is stuck to the bed.  The person who submitted this video apparently has 15 more minutes of tape and would like to get in contact with Donald Trump.

Usher Spends $12K on a Puppy for a Good Cause

Usher bought a $12000 puppy after winning it at an auction for Pencils of Promise. Apparently he's been trying to win a goldendoodle puppy for 2 years now.  The charity builds schools in Laos, Nicaragua, Guatemala and Ghana.  He's thinking about naming the little dog, Poppy--maybe for the initials of the charity? P.O.P?  Just a guess.

NYPD Cop Arrested for Kidnapping Cannibalism Plot

Gilberto Valle may look like a nice family guy on Facebook, but he had something sinister brewing behind those eyes. 

This police officer was caught before he could execute his plans to kidnap 100 women and cook them before eating them. This was a serious plot.  He had the addresses of all these women in his computer with their names, addresses and pictures.  He even had lunch with one of these women.

In various emails he sent, he talked about his desires to cook these women alive.

He said, "I was thinking of tying her body onto some kind of apparatus ... cook her over low heat, keep her alive as long as possible"


He was also caught in a kidnapping scheme which would have paid him $5000. 

"I will really get off on knocking her out, tying up her hands and bare feet and gagging her. Then she will be stuffed into a large piece of luggage and wheeled out to my van."


Thankfully this dirty cop was stopped before he could get anywhere with this.

Flaming Hot Cheetos Rap Video. Cute Little Kids Declare Their Love

Little Kids Make a Music Video about Hot Cheetos (and Takis--whatever that is).

I thought this video was so cute.  I liked seeing these little kids rapping about something as innocuous as snacks instead of trying to sing about violence and money.   I love the little one pictured above rapped his part like he was a mini Mystikal.

If you haven't heard, schools all over are placing a ban on Hot Flamin Cheetos because they are addictive and have a high sodium content.  They have little nutritional value and are unhealthy.  In addition to that when these kids eat too many Hot Cheetos, the red coloring is appearing in the fecal matter of the kids, mistaken as blood and sending them to the hospital emergency rooms.

She is responsible for her own injuries and she wrote KKK on the car herself.

Angel Haze Remakes Cleaning Out My Closet: Explicit Lyrics

Rapper Angel Haze has created her own version of Eminem's old song "Cleaning out My Closet".

The lyrics are very explicit but she tells the tale of being sexually assaulted and abused as a kid and its lasting effects into adulthood.  It's  not pretty but it is a real song that many girls and women can relate to.

Video: Racist Coca Cola Street Billboard Ad in Atlanta

Is this Coca Cola Ad racist?  This young black student thinks so.  The billboard ad depicts 3 individual faces in front of various Coca cola company beverages.  The white male represents Coca Cola and the white female represents Sprite.  In the middle is a black male who is representing Grape Powerade!

I didn't realize Grape was so associated with black people--I always thought RED---yes, the flavor, red--was the black stereotype for drink flavors.    But now that I know that grape drink is a black stereotype I do think it's racist.  Check the video below.
